Please don't bank with FNB as the bank is susceptible to ***** without adequate security measures and they will blame you for the loss and deny any responsibility.

Case number: *** Investigator Bradley

Dear FNB Executive Management:

I have been a loyal customer to FNB for more than 17 years. But the recent ***** that occurred on my bank account resulting in the loss of R21 775.50 is unjustified from FNB's side. Below is the response provided by FNB:

"We are aware of the circumstances surrounding the loss or theft of your card. Based on the fact that transactions can only be processed using the personal identification number (PIN), our findings concluded that your PIN was exposed or accessible, enabling the ********* to transact with the card and the PIN". Letter dated 3 May 2021.

So my story goes like this: I was on holiday in Illovo during the week of the 23 April 2021 and was doing some fishing on the beach. The perpetrators got into my car stole my wallet and my cellphone which had my FNB banking app and proceeded to a Pick and Pay, Top @ Spars, Engine garage were they utilised R21 K worth of my funds with FNB not doing anything to prevent the theft through limits or through implementation of any type of security measure.

Further my Pin number was not written down in any form and was not on my Cell Phone which also had a security key to get into the phone. I am concerned on how the perpetrators had access to my bank pin details? Do they have insiders at the bank giving them security details or resetting of bank pin numbers is a question?

Below are the steps that I will take as a customer of FNB who is dissatisfied with the security measures of FNB and the blatant refusal to take any responsibility for this loss: 1. I will cancel my FNB law on call with immediate effect, apparently you cannot use these lawyers in a case against FNB; 2. I wont take them to the Bank Ombud as this R21k means nothing to me. 3. During the weekend I will consult with Nedbank to move my 2 X home loans and my accounts over to Nedbank and leave just R100 in my FNB Account for FNB to safeguard, as it is proven that you cannot safeguard my money ( this will ensure that FNB does not see any further business from myself ever again and that they loose the value of my interest on home loans). 3. I will be posting posts like this for the rest of the year (Saturday morning's) warning other FNB customers and potential FNB Customers of the risk's of banking with FNB.

Conclusion: The R21 k loss means nothing to me, what matters is the manner in which you treat your customers! Don't just think that all customers will just sit and lay back and accept the decision taken by the Forensic Department within FNB on not to pay and deny complete responsibility for the *****.

Should one not pay directly, the payment comes indirectly with a loss of customers, poor media coverage, etc.

Dear FNB Team

Note that this matter is now closed at FNB and the letter has been issued stating that FNB denies all responsibility for this ***** that has occurred on my account.

Note that 30/04/2021 was not yesterday!

The complaint had been routed to FNB ***** for investigation and resolution and we have an outcome so I am disputing the outcome as FNB cannot deny responsibilities as my banking limits were not adhered to by FNB!

Disgusted at the above response.
