Pethetic Fnb Customer Service
Good day. I am a loyal fnb client. I have been banking with fnb for more than a decade but of late I have been very disappointed with fnb.
I have a smart spend loan with a R44,000 balance. On 22 December 2018, I transferred the settlement amount into the loan account and contacted the bank requesting the account to be closed. I was informed that the account will close automatically in 24 to 48 hours.
On the 24 December 2018 I called the bank again because I didn't want the debit order to go through on the 31 December 2018. I was told that the request was escalated to the finance department and that the debit order would not go through. So I waited.
On 31 December 2018 the debit order went through as usual.
On the 2 January 2019 I contacted fnb again and enquired why the account was not closed, I was told that the debit order instruction is loaded ten days before the debit order date and that there was money owed to me, so the money still needs to be transferred back to my cheque account before the account can be closed. On 8 January 2019 I called the bank again (bare in mind that I was using my airtime to phone and it takes a minimum ten minutes for your call to be answered) I asked why the account was not yet closed, I was told that the request was only sent to the finance department on 2 January 2019 and that the money owed to me would reflect in my account on 10 January 2019 and the account should automatically close by 11 January 2019.I enquired about what was the delay in closing the account, I was told that it would take 24 to 48 working hours.
On the 11 January 2019 I called the bank again because I was beginning to worry that with all the delays the debit order would go through on the 31 January 2019. I was again told that the matter was escalated to the finance department and that the money that is owed to me would be in my account by 12 January 2019 and that the account should be closed by 14 January 2019.
At this stage I am very disappointed with the fnb bank. In the time that I have been an fnb client, it was the first time that have received such disappointing service from the bank.
