PERSONAL PROTECTION PLAN NOT PROTECTING CLIENTS

My place of work closed for 3 months due to renovations. I informed FNB that I will not receive any income during this time and I emailed them all the supporting documents of our closure on the 25th October 2023. FNB rep**** via email that I must log onto the FNB profile via the App and to apply for a Temporary Relief Solution. I most certainly do not want to open up another loan with interest and therefore did not apply for the Temporary Relief Solution. For 2 of the 3 months that we were closed, I managed to sc**** cash together for the instalment to be debited. Now that I am back at work FNB are debiting the instalment twice and every month I have to call the centre to have the 1 instalment reversed and incurring extra banking charges each month. When I signed up for the loan and agreed to the term and conditions, I was informed that I have to pay for an additional FNB Personal Loan Customer Protection Plan to cover the outstanding debt should life's unforeseen events happen. My cover for events is Inability to Earn an Income. Why am I then paying this Personal Protection Plan if I am by no means covered? I am totally disgusted by this Bank that is clearly only after debiting your account and not honouring what the consumer signed up for. I hereby wish to inform all consumers to stay away form this greedy bank as far as you possibly can.

Reviewer Update
Received a call from FNB on Friday the 26th April 2024 to say that my loan account is in arrears. Mind you, that is after my complaint review. Clients please beware, your protection plan is not protecting you when "life's unforeseen events happen".
