Personal Loan

Good day, i trust you are well

I am VERY VERY upset about a recent experience with FNB. I took out a personal loan from FNB, over the period of 72 months. I have been paying for about 3 months now, and recently, one the 9th of June, had the money to settle my loan in full.

I transferred the full amount i owed on my loan into the "Personal loan" account, in order to finish my loan. Apparently i forgot about the 0.81c, and this amount was then debited from my account on the 25th of June. I did not think much about this at the time, but when I logged into my banking app today (30 June 2025), I saw that i now owe FNB almost R600.

I proceeded to phone customer care, and the friendly lady told me that i forgot to pay the 0.81c , and therefore interest was then added to my *** interest, on a 0.81c is a ridiculous *******, as this is more than 3000% interest. I was then told there's daily interest added and all sorts of ****, which still doesn't make sense or justify this high amount of interest.

Additionally, when i settled my account, i was never reminded or informed that i need to CLOSE this "personal loan" account, and since it's still active there was service charges added. I dont have an issue with this, I have a moerse issue with the fact that i had to pay R400 interest for cents I owe FNB. I told the customer care lady that I would drive to FNB and drop off a R10 note in cash , and it would still be more than 100% interest.

The customer care lady then proceeded to debit this amount from my account to close it, after which nothing changed on my app, so i proceeded to do it myself on the app. Hours later, the debited amount was deducted (received notification), now leaving me more than R1000 poorer. Im wondering if the second payment will be reversed, and what's strange to me, the amount i manually paid, and the amount that was debited, are two different amounts, so which is the correct amount, something VERY wrong is going on here.

I would like to humbly request my money be returned to my account, as im not willing to pay R400 interest on 0.81c i owe FNB. I'm so dissatisfied with this **** service and treatment, that im considering closing my FNB account, as i mentioned over the phone, I feel as if im being ****med.

I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND anybody take out a loan from FNB
