Pending Transactions and the charges associated with them

Since October 2017 my wife and I's accounts are always in a debit balance due to 'Item paid' charges. We have been to the branch (Eastgate) to enquire a million times why we are being charged 'Item unpaid' amounts for transactions that have been 'pending' for days.

What they(the branch) has advised is that when you swipe/tap your card at a store, the amount sits as a pending transaction on your account until the store does their banking. So if the store does their banking when your funds are low, your account goes into a negative balances .... you'e basically charged R100 by the bank for'paying' the amount for you yet the amount was deducted from your account when the transaction was done.

We have been back and forth to the branch with no assistance, this is **************** and utter nonsense.

Reviewer Update
Good Day, I received a call on Monday and they stated that they will arrange a meeting to explain how this entire thing works and will confirm via email but 3 days later there is nothing. On the 20th another charge of R110 for 'Item Paid' was deducted for a transaction that happened days prior where I swiped my card at a filling station, funds were 'reserved' for the transaction and my account balance reduced by the relevant amount but days later I am yet again being billed for a transaction that was paid for. I cannot work to pay FNB R900 bank charges on a monthly basis, this is utter *******. I am taking my business elsewhere where they know how to treat customers and do not rip them off!!!!!!!
