Payment honoring fee for 1 day excess
Last month my account went into excess by R110. I received an sms from FNB stating that my account has gone into excess and that I needed to make a deposit. The next day money was deposited into my account yet when I went into my payment history a fee of R75 was charged by FNB.
How come FNB can send me a sms stating that my account is in excess but they can't inform me on this same sms that I will be charged a fee of R75.
My account was in excess of R110, the fee I was charged for this 1 day excess is R75, that is more than 68% of the excess amount which is not fair.
I was contacted earlier this month for a credit card which I refused to take, I can't help but feel that these 2 incidents are related and that I am being charged this amount because I refused a credit card.
I think this fee is extremely unfair seeing as it was in excess for 1 day and I was NEVER told that a fee might be charged in the first place. The R110 was recovered by FNB when I made the deposit the next day so it's not like you lost any money. The worst part for me is the fact that I was NEVER even informed of this fee before it was deducted just instructed to make a deposit.
