Pathetic service from FNB
I made an online purchase this morning with my FNB card. It first said the transaction was denied, which I found strange as I do have funds in my account. I tried for a second time and it gave me the same result. I thought to then wait and try again later. Shortly after I decided to wait, I got an sms notification saying that the transaction went through. I was at first happy with that, as I want my goods. I then went back online to the provider I purchased from but my transaction was stated as failed on their side, as they did not receive the money. I called the provider and they advised I just need to forward them proof of payment, and then my purchase would be processed, which I was happy to comply with. I logged on my online banking to get confirmation but I could not do so as FNB is having "technical issues" . I then called FNB to try and get resolution to this, but I was wrong thinking I could. The consultant advised me that all systems are offline and that there is nothing they can do. I then advised the consultant that I would like to speak to a manager. She put on hold for a few minutes and came back stating that all team leaders are in a meeting and that they would get back to me. I advised the consultant that it is unacceptable to receive that answer as there should always be a team leader/manager available to assist a client if need be. She then put me on hold again and went to relay my message. Once again she came back with the same result that the managers are busy and that they would get back to me. At this point I had to agree as there was nothing else the consultant could do for me. Shortly afterwards I received a call from a manager, which I was extremely happy about as I thought this would mean a resolution to my problem, but I was wrong. She explained that they have technical issues and that there is nothing they can do to help me right now, which infuriated me, hence this complaint. How is it possible that a multi-billion rand company can do this to clients, especially month end, when we need to do transactions. I really do not care if FNB has technical issues. I understand that nothing is perfect, but FNB is the number one bank in South Africa, surely this allows them enough funds to perfect systems, which is man made. I happily pay a lot of bank charges every month because I always thought FNB was worth it. At this rate I'll have no choice but to think differently. If this is what I can expect from FNB, I should rather move my bank to Capitec and pay less costs every month , and then when they give me the same problem I'll have no leg to stand on as I'll be paying next to nothing for bank charges, so therefor I cannot expect anything great. With the costs FNB charge to maintain an account I believe I have every right to complain, as it is a lot of money. So to conclude this, I need a result from FNB by end of business today or else I will be taking this very much further!
