Overdraft

Hi
I have had an account with FNB from 1990 and never had any problems until now.
I worked fro Eskom on a contract basis and in this time I required an overdraft from FNB that was approved with out any problem. Fnb contacted me a few months after the overdraft was approved and said I have to get a life cover and income protector on this. I work for Eskom from 2009 September to 2014 Dec as Eskom after promising me I will stay until about end of 2019 stopped my contact. I was with out work from Jan 2015 to end of Sep 2015. I this time I try to pay all my debt and FNB cancelled my Policy. I went to the Gonubie branch and they said that the policy at that time did not have a income protection on it?
They have handed my over to there Lawyers that ads to the cost and I am not even getting a statement from anybody. I feel this was reckless lending form them without a income protection on it and that I am treated unfairly?
Can you please assist
