Over priced unwanted insurance coupled with NO service
I took out a personal loan from FNB a couple of months ago, the process was very easy and simple. But then I noticed that I was paying for an insurance policy that was loaded onto the personal loan for if something was to happen to me they would be covered. I understand this as it is how they mitigate risk, but here is the problem I have with this. The cost of the policy is roughly R 450 per month to cover a loan of R 150 000, I currently pay around R 500 for R 3 000 000 cover through a other insurer and both policies have the same benefits accept for the amount that they are covering.
And this is where it gets absurd, why are there premiums so inflated? They already charge you a high interest rate on the loan, this I agreed to so I can't be too unhappy with that. But to then also inflate your insurance as much as that is just wrong.
So when I noticed this I phoned the loans department at FNB and had the above discussion with the agent who kept on avoiding direct questions related to sending me policy documents and the reason behind the inflated insurance policy cost.
Eventually he gave me an email that I could send my other policy too and they would evaluate it and if they where satisfied they would then cancel the existing policy. Problem here is that the email you need to send it too is way too complicated and took an extended period of time to insure I got it right, but none the less I got the email sent with all the fine detail he said I should add.
So here I was waiting for a response which the agent said should take no more than two days or so.. a month later I sent the second email which was two days ago.. now I am at a point where I am posting about the ridiculous service I have received on a platform where I can only hope to get some kind of response or recourse from the emails I have sent.
The experience has been terrible to say the least, and its not like I only have one account with FNB, I am a private client of theirs and I run my business accounts through them as well and both my cars are financed with them.. So should I rather start looking for a other bank that might want to provide me with decent service??
FNB at this stage surely does not seem to want to keep this client satisfied..
For interest sake here is the ridiculous email address they told me to use: ***
Regards
A very disappointed client
