Over It!

So I thought FNB's slogan was: How can we help you? It's more like: How can we make it HELL for you?

It all started with credit insurance amounts going off on my account that I did not sign up for. I have enough products at other companies without you deductung your R30 - R100 per month. Even sayig no on a contract does not prevent the deduction. Then they deduct their bank fees on the 19th of each month. I only get paid on the 20th. And what does FNB say? I have to budget to have the R199 in my account on the 19th. Well because that was not possible for a few months, my cheque account was in an unauthorised overdraft for 2 days (24hour EFT from another bank waiting period) and they charge around 10% interest PER DAY on that overdraft. Because of this my credit record was negative and I was unable to move my homeloan to the bank I am currently working at - to enjoy some of the staff benefits as well as a better rewards program.

When I tell them I will EFT all of my payments they have major issues!! And no it is not allowed, etc. (total nonsence!) Anyways...

I paid my credit card with more that enough funds in November. A few days later I moved the money to my cheque account to ensure all my other debit orders (including my homeloan) can go off and what happens... They deduct my credit card minimum payment AGAIN. Not only did it take 7 days to show on my credit card, BUT they ALSO capitalised about R2000 (without notification / communication on this) and deducted interest for a SECOND time in a month. This caused my homeloan to be in arrears with guess how much... R2000. The Call centre phones me and asks why I am short, I tell him the story and still (quite rudely) he tells me I need to pay the R2000 or make a plan. (I had to make a plan since I don't have R2000 just lying around)

I then try to - for a month - to close my FNB account with many stories and issues along the way. One of the stories was... they cannot close my account because I have live debit orders on the account. Take a guess to whom those debit orders belong?? FNB indeed. Then they tell me that even though I close my cheque account, if I don't do all of my EFT's 48hours before (it needs to reflect 48hours before) the debit order date, the debit order will still go off from my account (the closed account) and reflect negatively on my credit record. It took them so long to explain this to me and to get all of their stories in line that, when I finally tried to close the account, I had to pay my bankfees again and thus wait a day to pay - since I only get paid a day later - plus, I again paid the 10% interest on that account. Thanks to the guys in the FNB Branch in Randridge Mall though. The only useful FNB branch in SA! You guys are a light at the end of the tunnel and not a hell at the end of the pit! I cannot say the same for homeloans, credit cards or any of the other branches.

As for the credit card, when I phoned FNB Card, the guy on the phone told me they capitalised funds due to my behaviour over the past few months. I told him that they did not even phone me or communicate this through and he just kept quiet. I asked him if they are going to capitalise again next month and all he said was: "I don't know". He also explained that he cannot remove the debit order from my account even if I do close the cheque account.

All I have left to say is: Thanks FNB (imagine a heavy sarcastic voice whilst reading that)... It has been a special kind of hell. The moment I can, I will be moving / closing ALL of the accounts I have with you and I would not, in any way, - even to my worst enemy - recommend you as the go to bank for consumers.

And no, when I am in your branch, I do not care for more products / cellphoes without credti checks / any of your promotional things that you use to lure unsuspecting and trusting customers into you hellish pit!

FNB: "How can we make it HELL for you?"

Bye,

OvetIt888
