Outsurance

Please read my complaint about Outsurance as it's not advisable to have your good clients being advised to go with Outsurance when taking a homeloan with FnB. I did advise the Outsurance manager that I was putting Fnb up Aon hellopeter about this incident aswell and he didn't mind.

Last year April, Easter Monday the heavy storm in Durban caused some heavy damages to my home, as my home is sea facing. It was my first time for my wife and myself ever claiming from any insurance. I put my claim through my home insurance which was a total nightmare cause I had a security company come out and assess my gas geyser, pool, Jacuzzi, aircon etc. With my aircon, I requested an Aircon specialist to come out as I was not happy about a security company testing and instead I got an electrician come out. Separate from that last year I was away and my wife was home and my kitchen pipe burst, instead of a plumber coming out, Outsurance sent out and electrician which had total attitude and refused to replace the flexi pipe, After complaining the same electrical company was sent again and didn't know what they were doing

Anyway my main problem was and still is my roof. Before the storm. We never had rain water come into our home, during the storm it became like we had no roof the way the rain came gushing through, my wife and I worked continuously the entire night removing buckets and buckets of water. When Outsurance assessor came out, he said that my roof was perfect and one of the best roofs he's seen but after that storm, everytime it rained, the water came straight into my home. I called a roofing companies out, the guy looked into my sealing which Outsurance assessor didn't do and showed me the gaps that the storm left, so I took a short cut and used about 50 silicones to close each gap then painted over but heavy rain still kept coming through. I then called a second construction company which said what I'm doing is short term and won't solve the problem cause the roof tiles will need to be reset. so two months back I decided to change my insurance as insurance is there to give me peace of mind but in return, Outsurance seems to be more of a headache. When I called to cancel my insurance, Outsurance agent asked me my reason for cancelling and I explained, the agent understood and said that she will get Outsurance to sort out the matter and she didn't want to lose a client. So a manager by the name of Qaasim Varind called me from Cape town or Jhb and without coming out said that my roof looked perfect from a picture he had. I explained my roof might look perfect from your pictures but the rain is still coming through. I explained I did silicone but on heavy rains, the rains comes through, before the silicone every small rain water came through. How can my roof be perfect. He then asked if I needed a roofing company to come out and I said yes He then sent out a construction company that I had to force to see inside my sealing in which he just stood by my trapdoor and peeped in, didn't go on my roof to check for a problem just stood on the side as if he just came out to impress me, explained that he did agree that my tiles needs to be reset, I asked if he got measurements, he said yes. Took no notes whilst he was by my home, only took measurement of two rooms sealing but never write any measurements.

I waited a week then called Outsurance, Outsurance then had to worry the construction company for the quote, when the quote came, I wasn't allowed to get a copy of the quote and findings until it went through the assessor which I then had to keep worrying for the assessor to get back to me which took over another week. Eventually I was told that it's normal for water to come through my roof tiles into my house and continuously cause damages. Outsurance is a total nightmare. Please stay away.
