Opening a bank account is nearly impossible

As a Standard bank business account holder, I have rececived the mose shoddy service - to the point that I have decided to move the business account to FNB after researching which bank would meets our banking needs.

After filling in the needed forms online and sending all the documents to their account opening department, i did not receive a word is all was in order. I then phoned to confirm and was told that the account was opened and i could transact. I told them i didnt receive an email to confirm this and i dont even have an account no to transact from. An email with the acc no in the subject line was then sent. A day or so later, i received an email stating that the account wasnt opened as some documents were missing. Open or NOT? Who knows. Not me!

I phoned to enquire this and was told not too worry that the cards were with the courier and on their way - that was over 3 days ago and no cards yet. So i phoned again only to be told that the cards havent been issued and that another document is missing. So i email it to them again and wait...

After waiting several days, I phoned today to be told that the account is ready for transacting... I am frustrated that each time i talk to an FNB person, there is a different story. At this rate, i dont even know if its worth changing one ****py bank for another.

Reviewer Update

24-hours later, the only thing i have to show for is an email from the FNB complaints department that says "Account is ready to be used".

That means nothing to me as i havent received an account no, how many cards is linked to this account, when is the cards to be couried, how to i go online banking - nothing but that one sentence: "Account is ready to be used."

Surely banks like FNB can be more professional than the local chop shop down the street.

Appaling service recovery.
