Online Banking got me ****med

On the 6th June 2017 I flew from Cape Town to Durban to go purchase a vehicle that was advertised on the internet & I slept over since it was late so I could view & pay for the vehicle the following day.

On the 7th June at 12H20 I made an online payment of R60 000 to an FNB account that I was given by the seller & withdrew R6 000. 00 and gave to the seller since he asked for hard cash of that amount, I then immediately called online banking from FNB Beach Branch, Durban to speed up the payment where they asked security questions and my bank card details and all was well & was promised that the funds will be available to the recipient's account in the next hour.

We waited for the funds to reflect on his account before he transfers the vehicle into my name at the traffic department. After an hour and 15minutes the funds were still not on his account, I called online banking again to check what was the hold up, they told me to wait about 30 minutes or so, I explained to them that I am from far from where I was and still had to drive to Cape Town & that the seller is impatient. Someone called me from FNB ***** department to verify the payment & he said the funds have been paid to the recipient, we went back to the branch's ATM, but there was no money & he became more impatient, but I asked him to wait a little.

At around 16H00 I called the online banking again to check what was the problem and they must give answers to this matter, the lady I spoke to did the security checks via confirmation of my banking card details, which was all through and shockingly, she discriminated me because of my voice, I have a small voice, but she had no right to tell me that she was talking to a woman & how do I have Mr ***aza's details, I tried to explain to her that I am a male and am ***AZA, but she hang up. I called again and the 2nd whom I explained my problem to just did the security checks and put the phone aside without saying anything, I could hear them chatting and giggling on the other side & no one attended me & I became so angry, felt helpless and bad because of the one who told me that I am a woman.

At 16H30 I tried my last luck and to my surprise, the banker told me that the funds were reversed back into my account at around 14pm, I asked for the reasons and that why I was not notified by that & she couldn't give me any explanation, but she said she will process the payment again and will take less than an hour for the funds to reflect to the seller and she gave me a reference number to the call which is: R ********** 134603. We waited for the money & yet there was nothing up until we gave up and the seller took me back to the hotel where I was sleeping at & told me that he will wait for the money to reflect on him and he will contact me.

The following morning, I contacted the seller and he never answered my calls, I contacted FNB to check if the money was in the recipient's account and they said it went through. I kept contacting the seller and there was no luck of getting hold with him. I went to Durban Central police to report a ***** case and the captain I was dealing with told me that the seller will never answer again and they can't open a case in Durban, it has to be opened in Cape Town because that's where I first got in contact with the seller.

Till today, the seller is nowhere to be found with my money & I blame FNB online banking for this because if everything went accordingly right from the start, there was no way the seller would have dumped me like that.

I am very dissaponted with FNB online banking and I need my money back.
