Online banking

On Friday 30 June 2017 i went online on my profile and paid an amount of R6000.00 into the FNB account of someone who trimmed a tree in my garden. A OTP ( one time pin ) was sent and recieved by me and duly entered. I thought all was well. On Tuesday 04 July 2017 the client phoned me and informed me that there was no deposit into his account. I told him that I will follow up with FNB. When I went online. I could find no trace of the transfer that I had done. My bank statement also did not show a debit. I then went into the Pretoria North FNB Branch for assistance. I was told that they do not deal with Online Banking I need to phone them. I used the phone at the branch and called the call centre. I spoke to a consultant and explained the problem. She also could not find the transfer on her system. She then transferred me to someone else who also could not find anything. They could also not answer me when questioned about the OTP. Why was I asked to enter it if the transaction was invalid ( if it was ). I also asked them why didn't I get an in contact message or an e mail stating that the transfer was declined or that it failed. She then wanted to transfer me to someone else and by then I had had enough because they could not give me a valid answer. I do not know if the money was removed from my account and is just not reflecting as a debit. I could be in for a shock a few months down the line. It was extremely unprofessional from FNB for me to hear from the client that he did not receive the money that I had promised him. FNB is always urging their clients to use their online banking services. What happens when this does not work as it has failed in this instance.
