Ongoing FNB Connect SIM Issues – No Resolution After Months
I currently have 3 FNB Connect devices. Last year, I was ****** and lost one of my phones along with the SIM card — a number I used for business. I replaced the device and did a SIM swap, but the new SIM only worked for a day or two before showing "Emergency Calls Only."
Despite multiple attempts by FNB to refresh the SIM remotely, nothing worked. I was told the SIM was faulty. I visited a branch, only to be told they had no SIMs in stock and I should come back later. Eventually, I was informed I could convert to an eSIM — which required me to buy a more expensive device. I did that, installed the eSIM… and faced the exact same issue.
After more back-and-forth with support and no resolution, I’ve decided to share my experience publicly.
Here’s why I’m disappointed:
I keep paying for a service that doesn’t work. The same issue persists across physical SIMs and eSIMs. I spend around R1000 extra every month on prepaid just to stay connected. Every time I contact support, I’m told to wait 48 hours for an email — which never solves the problem. This is unacceptable, especially for a business-critical number. I expected better service and accountability from FNB Connect.
