Ongoing Billing Errors, Collections Harassment & Unresolved Fee Issues at FNB

I am sharing this as a public warning regarding my ongoing experience with First National Bank (FNB). Despite multiple attempts to resolve these matters directly with the bank, I continue to experience repeated billing errors, financial prejudice, and unnecessary stress. My credit card is repeatedly reflected as being in arrears, even though payments are successfully deducted from my FNB Current Account. This issue previously occurred and was never properly resolved. It has now happened again, 4th month. A payment was successfully deducted, yet my account is once again marked as being in arrears, and I am receiving repeated SMS notifications requesting additional payments within the same billing cycle. There has been no clear explanation as to why further payments would allegedly be required after a successful debit order has already been processed. These repeated and unexplained additional payment demands have placed me under severe financial pressure. It effectively results in what feels like “double payments” in a single month. This situation is not due to overspending or misuse of my credit facility, but rather what appears to be incorrect payment allocation and account mismanagement. My payment history reflects consistent and good-faith efforts to meet my obligations. Because the account is incorrectly reflected as being in arrears, I am receiving repeated calls from FNB credit card collections. Many of these calls disconnect when answered, which is both unprofessional and distressing. These collection attempts are unjustified, as the arrears status itself appears to be incorrect. Approximately three years ago, I requested at the FNB College Square branch that my account be reverted to a more affordable account type, as the Premier account fees were too high. I signed the required documentation and was assured the matter would be resolved. Years later, after further complaints, the account was changed — however, I am now being charged per transaction instead of being on a bundled monthly fee structure. This remains incorrect and unresolved. As a result, I have incurred excessive banking fees over an extended period. After repeated attempts to resolve these matters directly with FNB, the same issues continue to occur. This has resulted in financial strain, stress, and ongoing concern about the impact on my credit profile. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution members of the public to carefully consider their banking options before choosing FNB. Persistent billing discrepancies, unresolved fee issues, and collections action based on disputed arrears have made this an extremely frustrating and distressing experience. I sincerely hope that sharing this experience helps others make informed decisions.
