Offensive sms by FNB
Dear FNB I just joined you and you have already p*ssed me off! I recently received this sms: "FNB :-) Your a/c ..932127 is in excess. Kindly correct immediately or FNB may dishonour. FNB a div of FRB Ltd NCRCP20. 01Jul 13:56" Firstly this message does not make any sense! If something is in "excess" there is too much if it. I looked online and found no other institution that uses this term like this i.e. to mean arrears. The only place I found it being used is in Hello Peter posts complaining about the same kind of sms from FNB! Secondly you have already dishonoured yourself by sending such a badly worded message. I feel offended by it. Its not like you ran out of characters and were unable to write full sentences. I edited your sentences so we can all understand what you are trying to say because frankly your sms does not make sense: FNB :-) Your a/c ..932127 is in ***ARREARS***. Kindly correct immediately or FNB may dishonour ***YOU***. FNB a div of FRB Ltd NCRCP20. 01Jul 13:56 I added 12 asterisks to indicate the words and I changed and the characters will still fit into an sms. Please tel me that a person sent this and that this is not an automated message sanctioned by FNB. I can recommend a very good editor if your command of English is not at professional level. If it was a person I would suggest you remove them and not allow them to interact with clients again. By the way: I am R1 in arrears. This aggressive campaign has not done you any favours. I have not yet switched all my debit orders and other stuff from ABSA to FNB. Clearly I have made a huge mistake by choosing FNB. I see this type of message has popped up here on Hello Peter a few times before. 1. I want an apology. 2. I Want you to change the wording so WE wont have to come here and complain again. 3. Stop threatening me (us) by sms. If you need to get hold of me you can send me an email (you DO have my details) and inform me of the exact problem you have detected so we can discuss the issue and find a solution.
You might see this as a trivial matter but I am not amused. J Steyn
