OBSTRUCTIVE AND UNHELPFUL STAFF

I visited counter 6 at FNB Fourways View at 5.10pm for 2 reasons. 1 - to verify if the bank statement presented to me by a prospective tenant was valid i.e the account number did belong to the application and 2 to open an FNB account.

However, the staff member was so obstructive, unhelpful and arrogant that I would rather have root canal treatment than open an account with FNB

. Perhaps because I am a private wealth clients at several other banks I am used to staff being co-operative and helpful - and maybe this is how regular clients are treated - but the staff members obstructive attitude is actively aiding and abetting ********* by allowing them to provide ********** bank statements in support of rental applications, and obtaining credit for purchases of houses, cars, furniture etc.

The employee refuses to verify that the account number belonged to the rental applicant - and informed me that the applicant had to go to his bank to get the statement stamped. When I argued that 99% of FNB bank statements submitted to me actually contain a bank stamp (Cresta Branch) which is why I now want to verify the validity with the branch - he still insisted that there was no way for me to verify the validity of a bank statement. As all other banks readily verify this - I told him I was going to lodge a complaint with the Bank Ombudsman - because this refusal is clearly aiding and abetting ********* - and suddenly there WAS a way I could verify the validity - by calling a number and submitting the documents for verification!!!

This is shockingly obstructive behaviour - which assists ********* in submitting ********** documents - and has lost FNB a potential client. You might say its only 1 client - but most people dont bother to complain so you dont know how many other potential clients have been lost due to poor staff attitudes.
