Now I'm handed over to the lawyers

I was retrenched last year and I could not pay for my credit card. after a month of not paying i was told i need to pay or the account would be handed over to the lawyers. I was later that it was handed over. i informed them that i was retrenched and asked to send the documents to proove such, I did and nothing was done, a few months later another call, i told the same story and sent documents. <br> <br> now i just got a letter informing me that i have been handed over to the lawyers and i should be paying them the money? I mean i was paying insurance throught FNB for such cases and i was told that it would cover me in cases where I lost my job. Now i have been taken to the lawyers? <br> <br> I need help with this asap as it affects my credit.
