Not so tech savvy as they pretend to be
FNB tried to be this tech-savvy bank with good ideas, with bad execution. Issue 1: Allocation of eBucks for double-up did not happen, because they say I did not use and Engen for one fuel entry. This is not true, and the issue is with the Engen petrol station that used a credit card machine indicating Wierda park Motors and not Engen Wierda park. Issue 2: I am using an FNB SIM card and the line keeps on dropping or very bad reception, so I cannot resolve issues with FNB via the phone. My call dropped whilst trying to solve the eBucks allocation issue and I then received an SMS with a query number and that I must wait up to 48 hours. FNB Connect advised me to use permanent roaming on MTN and it improved the signal a bit, but I still get dropped calls. Issue 3: They motivate people to use scan to pay, but it is an issue when using the banking app with scan to pay due to the poor cell phone coverage. I ended up getting a dual sim phone with another provider for data related transactions on my phone when not on WiFi. Issue 4: That useless bot I speak to when phoning for an issue does not understand English. I said allocation issue and the bot provided me info about my allocation and not the issue on the allocation. Issue 5: I was prompted that I was preselected for a home loan amount during internet banking. FNB also provided me with a document for that. I then signed an offer to purchase for an amount far less than that and then FNB declined my application. I then got a home loan at another bank. Issue 6: I purchased a soundbar from the FNB Connect store and I reived a message that it will be delivered on or before 16 April 2021. This did not happen.
