Non-resident banking - The worst service ever

I am a non-resident and I recently moved from Nedbank to FNB due to errors, lack of any clear systems and processes and just being generally useless. I figured that surely FNB could not be any worse than what I experienced with Nedbank.

I was wrong.

Here are some of the issues I have experienced: • They didn’t contact me when my card was ready as promised • They didn’t capture correct information when setting up the account • When transferring my funds over from Nedbank they decided to withhold my money without warning to go through Compliance (which I was told would take about two weeks) – therefore leaving me without access to my Money for 2 weeks. I did manage to resolve this quickly but it took a lot of phone calls and visits to the bank • I received a phone call, without warning, whilst on the beach having a lovely relaxing time telling me that my account was about to be put on hold as they had not completed a regulatory step. Although I gave all that information when I set up the account • Rude staff at their V&A waterfront branch • Contacted them requesting a meeting to discuss my issues whilst I was still in Cape Town and this was ignored • Most importantly – as a non-resident who is now in the UK there is NO SUPPORT OR RESPONSIVENESS. I now cannot make transactions online as they have changed my OTP number incorrectly and I cannot get hold of anyone to resolve this issue. I have been trying to email the non-resident centre for the last 2 weeks and my emails are being ignored. The contact form on their website also does not work!

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS BANK IF YOU ARE A NON RESIDENT AND RELY ON REMOTE SUPPORT. THEY ARE USELESS.
