Non disclosure of events affecting clients

I was paying my bills today and noticed a discrepancy in my credit card statement - I withdrew R150 from a PnP till point on the 25/02, as was reflected by my sms and email confirmations of transaction - however the transaction has gone through as R1500 - 10x the amount I withdrew!

Upon calling FNB, I received the following explaination: \Many FNB clients who withdrew money from an ABSA operated till point on the 25th and 26th experienced a problem whereby the withdrawal amount was multip**** by 10 when it was put through the system\"

In other words if you drew R1000, your account would have been billed for R10 000!

I understand this issue wasn't precipitated by FNB yet I feel FNB has a responsibility to their clients to issue communication in this regard to notify clients to inspect their transaction history! I am absolutely horrified by the response I received informing me that this is not FNB's problem but ABSA's problem. I don't care who started it but I am your client and when something goes wrong, I expect you to notify me accordingly to protect me from financial losses!"
