No proof of payment (paid up letter)
I previously contacted FNB requesting for details regarding an account on which there is a judgment on my credit record (R27 598). My case was allocated to Maanda Mutele. He gave me an account number in which I should repay the outstanding amount.
I made the first payment (R10,000) on the 31st of August. On the 25th of September I made another payment (R4,000) into the same account and sent the proof of payment which Mr Mutele told me that the payment details of changed. The amount paid was refunded and I paid into the new account he provided me with. I made the final payment (R13 598) on the 30th of September into same account he provided me with. For 5 days the payment did not reflect. On the 6th day Mr Mutele confirmed that FNB has received the payment but it “did not clear into my account”. It has been 7 days since I made the final payment but FNB has not given me any proof of payment (settlement letter). On my last correspondence with Mr Mutele he mentioned that Finance is resolving the matter, but a misallocation should not take more than a day to fix. And it is not my fault since I paid into the account given to me by FNB. I find it unacceptable that an institution like FNB cannot account for funds received, all I have is a statement for the first payment without an FNB logo and a typed transaction listing on an email by Mr Mutele reflecting only the 2 payments. I need a paid up letter since I settled the full amount. If FNB fails to resolve this I will also consider legal options since this will impact my livelihood if I don’t get the judgement removed from my credit record. I explained this to Mr Mutele but he has not yet responded to last email.
