No feedback, and no one to assist when i phone

My husband app**** for pre-approval on a joint purchase of property on the 13th August. We have not received a response from FNB and when we phoned them today the 25th August, no one seems to be able to assist and call centre staff do not give us a chance to speak, regardless we just want to know how much we qualify for so we can get a offer to purchase
