NO COMMUNICATION on inactive account from FNB, then first time is the attorneys!!!
Last year July'19 I opened an business account for a prospective business deal that never happened and thus I never used the account. I was able to see this linked business account in my personal internet banking and somewhere end of last year I spoke to somebody over the phone that called me from FNB regarding something else and I know after our conversation I also asked them to stop this account as it was not active or ever being used. Since then I didn't see it show in my internet banking anymore and the last of statement I received from FNB (per email) was 19 Nov'19. I thought that it is settled now and if there was any fees outstanding they would then deduct that from my cheq account. Since that last statement I received from FNB I have not had ONE piece of additional communication from FNB regarding this account and or if and what monies was outstanding. Like any normal person I would assume if I don't hear from somebody then I don't owe them anything anymore. Today, 9 July 2020 I received a call from STK Attorneys for collection on this account as according to them this account was only closed in April and now I need to pay up all outstanding banking fees for NOT using the service. I am not complaining about paying if it is due, but how can FNB go from last statement/communication regarding this account in Nov'19 directly go to attorneys. Why was I not called ONCE regarding this balance from FNB or even their collections department? The attorney said I must speak to FNB and when I called FNB they just shrug and said I must speak to the attorney as it is with them, and still nobody can tell me why I was NEVER contacted about due amounts, or is this the trick they pull on clients so their accounts just silently run into accrued bank fees and then pounce on their own clients and throw to the attorneys when it could have been settled months ago if there was just any kind of communication from FNB.
VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS WAY OF FNB DOING BUSINESS.
FNB slogan("How can we help you?) MAYBE START BY NOT BEING DISHONEST TO YOUR CLIENTS!!
