Nightmare of FNB Fiduciary: Invest Somewhere before you Die!
Last year (2023) in May I found out that my late mom who passed away in 2007 while I was a minor invested money with FNB. I then reported the estate using the documents that I have as my mom died without a will. My extended family who assumed responsibility for me after she passed away mishandled my mother's estate. I did a letter of authority for her second property that she owned with my late dad. I used that together with the documents that I have and I have not heard from FNB since the 7th of July 2023. They even got me to open up a late estate account that I have to maintain every month with the R130 I need to pay for the premier account that they offered me. I sent emails and they just sent back auto replies. I asked for advice from the branch and I was told to call them. I called in December 2023 and I was told that I should wait until the 28th of December 2023. I called again on the 16th of January 2024 and the person helping me also mentioned that it's been too long and he escalated the matter. He said that within 48 hours I would receive communication with FNB which never happened. I then called again on the 22nd of January 2024 and I was told to wait until the 23rd of January 2024 and I still haven't received any communication from FNB. I have been a loyal customer of this bank since 2010 but now I am having my doubts. So please good people, draft your wills with a good and trustworthy lawyer, and don't simply go the FNB way. If you want to invest, other banks can help you swiftly not FNB.
