New applications FNB, please read my story before opening an FNB bank account

If you are heading to a bank to open up a banking account today please think twice about using FNB as a bank of choice. Their security measures instituted for their clients is outdated and not aligned with those of other banks.

I have been banking with FNB for the past 17 years. I leaned my lesson when R21 775.50 was ****** from my bank account by **********.

The response below was received from FMB for the R21k ******:

"We are aware of the circumstances surrounding the loss or theft of your card. Based on the fact that transactions can only be processed using the personal identification number (PIN), our findings concluded that your PIN was exposed or accessible, enabling the ********* to transact with the card and the PIN". Letter dated 3 May 2021".

I did some research with Nedbank and asked them what do they do to prevent ***** ensuring that their customers funds are safeguarded. Below was their response to me:

"We have very sophisticated technology linked to all our clients spending habits. When we detect spending out of the extraordinary on a clients bank account we stop the card immediately and we will release the card as soon as the client contacts us to advise that this is him/her transacting on the account."

Im fine even if FNB denies any responsibility for the claim as I have already written off that amount in my mind.

But what happens to customers who's earning R20k per month or does not have savings to cushion the loss due to *****?

1. Do you loose your car and house (stability) because FNB does not have adequate security measures? 2. Do you need to go take out a loan with FNB to settle all your debit orders? at high interest rates! 3. For the FNB personnel reading this how would you feel if this happened to your child, wife, husband, mother? I ask this specific question to bring this close to home to ensure that FNB changes their security measures to prevent future losses of this nature. 4. Do you know that if your bank card is ******, the ********** will have a good chance to get all the money they require before you are able to inform FNB of the theft. This is due to incorrect telephone numbers loaded for the ***** hotline on the FNB website or it could be phone numbers that are no longer working. The long waiting times further compromises your security measures! 5. My last question does FNB have adequate staff to answer those ***** hotlines?

Please learn from my mistake when reading this! please choose an alternative bank were your money can be safeguarded.

I thank you for your time and enjoy your Saturday.

My next update will be posted on the 15 May 2021, to guide the youth on what they can expect when banking with FNB.
