NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE CONSIDER FNB SHORT INSURANCE - NEGLIGENT AND UNFAIR CLAIMS PROCESSING

FNB Short-Term Insurance should NEVER be trusted or used, if there's any piece of advise you should take from a stranger on the internet it would be to NEVER take up car insurance from First National Bank, no matter their promises to you. I have NEVER experienced such poor, nonchalant and *********** service from any insurance provider before.

Every month I have paid my premiums without fail, and my car was always in perfect working condition. I have never missed a service date, and any required maintenance was done on time. Despite this, FNB Short-Term Insurance is refusing to cover my claim, acting in bad faith, and failing to provide full transparency on their assessment (or lack thereof)

After my car was struck by lightning, it immediately showed electrical failure errors and went completely blank. However, instead of properly assessing the electrical damage, FNB sent my vehicle to a body shop—completely neglecting the actual issue. Upon arriving at their assessor the car sat for a while before being assessed by the time they tried to assess it the battery had drained and discharged because of the electrical issues I was claiming for then the assessor notified FNB of this and they rejected my claim because the battery is a wear and tear issue, mind you when they took in my car it was starting with no problems. I have now bought a new battery, the electrical issues and warning lights are still on, the car even warns that the battery is discharging when the car just sits for a while. The claims handler then gave me a call and started alluding to the fact that my car was due for a brake fluid service and this is also part of the reason why they are rejecting the claim.

Now, FNB is attempting to link a brake fluid service to an electrical failure caused by a lightning strike—a completely illogical conclusion. Prior to the incident, I had no issues with my car’s performance, and there is no reasonable explanation for why the electronics would suddenly fail immediately after the lightning struck unless the lightning was the cause.

Additionally, FNB has been negligent in their handling of this claim. They have refused to provide me with the full assessment report and data, making it clear that they are deliberately avoiding accountability. The delays in their review process have left me without a car for an extended period, forcing me to pay out of pocket for repairs while waiting indefinitely for a response because they rejected my claim without even conducting a full technical assessment, to this day I have asked many a times for a full report from their assessor and they've failed to respond to my emails, it's been weeks now.

FNB has completely failed in its duty to fairly assess and process my claim, there has been long winded delays in communication, I have had to constantly ask for feedback on matters they should be keeping me up to date with. I've had to call in multiple times because they very rarely respond to their emails. I've submitted 3 independent reports that i've done myself and diagnosis tests that show the extent of the damage to my car and i've done this during the claim process they chose to ignore all of this and attribute the damage to wear and tear. As it stands, I have to fix my own car because I cannot afford to be without a vehicle while FNB drags out their process.

This experience has shown me that FNB Short-Term Insurance does not operate in good faith. Their handling of this claim has been filled with delays, misinformation, lies from the claims handler (they **** and said they had an assessment from a BMW technician yet they've failed to provide such a report) and outright negligence. I would strongly caution anyone against using FNB for insurance, as they will find any excuse to avoid paying out legitimate claims.

The only next steps for me is to take this further to the ombudsman, they cannot get away with this mistreatment and unfair handling of claims.
