Need some help please.
We, my wife and I, have a Mortgage Bond with FNB. Our bond is not in arrears, in fact I normally pay about R600 extra per month. We are heavily indebted, especially regarding small loans and daily living expenses, but we always honour our debts. We app**** for a second bond knowing that we have a lot of equity in the property which we own. We app**** to FNB for this second bond, but our application was declined with the curt reply that we are not credit-worthy. What I fail to understand is how a big bank like FNB are unable to help us when we have stable employment with reasonable salaries and 4 sources of income in our household. We have a property as security for the money that we require, so we are not asking FNB to risk their investment unnecessarily. I am not sure who they are able to help in South Africa if they are unable to help us. It is really a pity that the application process is so impersonal as credit records and statements don't tell the full story. I received good advice and support from Lynn Skrikker at the Home loans but their hands are tied in this regard. I wonder whether clients understand all the forms that are completed as they do it all on their own.
