Need Snapscan? Stay FAR AWAY from FNB

We are a non-profit company in Stanford, Western Cape, and opened a community store to try and revive the huge affected rural economy. Of course - we need a bank. It was recommended we open a bank account with FNB. First mistake was to try and open a business account with FNB online.... it took almost 30 days and eventually it was only successfully opened when I went into the Herm**** branch. I should have seen the writing on the wall....

But no!!!!! It just got worse and worse... I then requested Snapscan as we are operating community store and many customers prefer to pay via snapscan. Sure, was the reply - just make a transaction from your phone and then... wait for it... your phone will be verified by 7 DAYS LATER! (7 days to verify a phone???)

So I did - and 7 days later I tried to register as a merchant.... I followed the instructions via the App, get to the QR Speedpoint button.... and it says YOUR REQUEST CANNOT BE PROCESSED... Please try again later. So I try the next day - same message. Then I phone technical support (15 Dec). They ask me for a screenshot of the message, I send and the promise is that it will be fixed the next day. Needless to say - next day comes and goes - phone again (16 Dec). Technical support again asks me the same - send screenshot. This time I ask for a reference number and the person's name - and am told that as the 16th is a holiday, the IT team can only attend to my problem the next day. (Really - everyone in IT is on holiday?) 17th I again phone technical support... again I get asked for a screenshot. Fortunately I now have a name and reference number so the lady calls the person who assisted me on the 16th. She says he will phone me - which he did. So here is the reply.... FNB realised last week (week 7 December) there is a bug in the system and it will only be fixed in February 2021!!!!!!!!!! I request to speak to his supervisor, who says exactly the same re the bug in the system, but does not give me date it will be fixed (they are working on it).

WELL I NEVER! One of South Africa's largest banks has a bug in the system which is negatively affecting every business requesting Snapscan and can only be fixed in 2 months time. What the heck has happened to customer service and solving IT problems? What is FNB's policy re trying to help getting the economy going again? This in UNACCEPTABLE! And how come a week after 'the bug in the system' the technical support team who work with the public has not been informed re the 'bug'? So IT just lets these poor people having to cope with irate clients?

I have banked with every other bank accept FNB - and I'm changing banks in the new year. This is such poor service they do not deserve to have any business clients.
