My password is worth more than my life
In March 2020 I was hijacked and taken to an unknown location. The assailants then proceeded to beat me and forced me to open my digital banking app on my cellphone. They then proceeded to make all sorts of transactions and effectively bled my accounts dry. I reported my ordeal to FNB immediately after the incident. After months of back and forth with the bank I received the decision that the bank would not refund me for my loss, citing the fact that I gave the assailants access to my accounts. It is a sad day when an institution values the password to an account more than the life of a client. It is even more sad knowing that I have been contributing towards insurance in the form of my payments to the bank for years. FNB dealt with my case with zero compassion and demonstrated zero care for me as an individual.
