My money was ******. FNB Loop Whole!

Good day, I would like to share my story in how disappointed I am in FNB in allowing a Major loop whole for us as FNB Clients to be ****med by ***********. Today I wanted to Purchase a item from "Jacques Steyn", he needed to transport the item and needed a deposit. The amount of the deposit was R5000. I asked "Jacques Steyn" to send me his details and proof, He then forward me a picture of his I.D, proof of address and where he works, after this I felt comfortable to pay the deposit like I think anybody would knowing they did their homework on the person. He then forward me his Banking details, under the Account Holder name "Jacques Steyn", I felt more as ease paying the deposit knowing that his Account name and the name on his I.D is a Match. I then logged onto my FNB banking app, processed to making "Jacques Steyn" a Recipient with the account number he provided under the name "Jacques Steyn". FNB then sent me a confirmation email to say I have just made "Jacques Steyn" a recipient under the account number the guy provided. I felt more assured as my bank didn't pick up and errors. I processed to pay the deposit and guess what! I never heard from the guy again. Tried calling and his phone was off. I then tried finding "Jacques Steyn" through social media and other networks and I eventually did. He had known nothing about what happen and had no money paid to him he works as a Sercurity and didn't even have that item for sale.

We then figured out that FNB will allow you to use any "Account Holder Name" to do a payment to which ever Account number is provided.

So the *********** will have an account number that belongs to them or who ever works with them and all they have to do is ***** somebody I.D and convince you that they are who they say they are. They then proceeded to giving you the ****** Identity information and then make sure they give you their Own Account number. That is the Loop Whole!!! With FNB the Account Holder Name and Account number doesn't need to match!! Once you have done the payment, the ******* is gone with your money and you try to track down the Innocent persons identity they have ****** and given to you.

I can not believe that FNB will allow their Clients to be put at risk like this.

I know with Absa bank if you want to do a payment to somebody and the Account name and Account number is not a match, they will not proceed with the transaction.

Fnb I will be waiting on you guys to get back to me on how we will resolve this matter.

I am overseas at the moment.
