My FNB Nightmare
Contacted by Nadine Lopes last year as I have a car payment through Westbank. I was told that I could seamlessly be moved to FNB and have 24 months without bank charges as well as all the perks that come with FNB. Nadine Lopes visited my home and took copies of mine and my husband's ID, 3 months of credit card and cheque account statements and said that we would be moved across shortly. From then on no one contacted me directly but asked for all debit orders and salary to be moved. When the time came for payday, I was still without a debit card. When I phoned FNB to enquire, I was told that a card had already been delivered to me.They put me through to the couriers who had no record of this and I had not received said card. I then went into the bank and spent the better part of 3 hours getting everything set up on my phone as I could not access the app due to not having a card. The lady that helped me at the bank was not able to provide me with a temporary card as they had no more at their branch. While I was there we cancelled the debit card that I supposedly had and of course, I was charged a fee for a LOST CARD. Not my problem. This fee was eventually paid back. While at the Durbanville branch, I asked about my credit card as well and I was put through to the credit card department who had never heard from Nadine Lopes. They didn't even know who she was. They told me that my name was nowhere in the system at all (this was 1 and a half months after applying and none of our paperwork had been sent in). Then I was told to try another branch for a temporary card. The next day when I phoned FNB, I was told that there is no way that I could find out which branches had temporary cards. I then mentioned that I couldn't get access to my salary or buy food without a card. Eventually someone from FNB sent me to the Willowbridge branch. I could not get a temporary card as it would limit me so I was given a normal debit card to tide me over until my newly ordered second (third??) card could be delivered. When the awaited card finally arrived, I was not told that I had to go to a different building at Willowbridge to fetch it. I had to wait for all types of security measures only to find out that the consultant who had the card had left to go home for the day (even though we had made a time to meet). I then went back to the correct building the following day and was issued with my credit card. Before I could get the card, I had to provide another three statements that were bank stamped as well as another parsnip as by now more than a month had passed and Nadine Lopes had not told me that all the paperwork had to be bank-stamped. One would hope that this was the end of the disaster, but after ALL of the above, I have been charges bank fees the last few months and despite contacting Nadine, who has promised time and again that she will make me a top priority, I am still paying bank fees (which was the whole reason I moved across to avoid) and NONE of this has been sorted out yet. Nadine has many refular excuses as to why she cannot help me - "I just got home from a day conference and I'm going to take a bath and go to bed (16:00 in the afternoon)" or "A few colleagues and I are driving to Grabouw. Can i phone you back when we stop?" (no phone call). This nightmare has been going on since September and I am ready to move back to ABSA as I NEVER had problems there. At this rate, my hubby has stayed at ABSA as we are shocked by the lack of professionalism from FNB.
