We are all aware of eft payments may take up to 2 or 3 working days. I have made an eft payment from my FNB account to my Capitec account because of the high banking cost/fees of FNB. I did the eft on Sunday the 30th of April. I was fully aware that Monday the 1st of May is a public holiday. So I waited until Tuesday the 2nd of May. The 2nd of May came and gone and still no money reflected in my Capitec account. I even went into the bank branch and asked if there might be a problem. The FNB staff member explained to me that the bank is very busy now I must come back tomorrow. Wednesday morning I went back to the branch again and at least now I was given a nr and I was helped. Again I was told no because the public holiday payments take longer. It will be in by Thursday. Thursday came still no money. I went back to the branch again and I was told at 12 noon Thursday it will reflect in my Capitec account. It is now 14H23 still no money is reflected in my Capitec account. I phoned the bank and spoke to a very rude lady saying to me there is no problem, I can have it reversed and pay R325 and it may take up to 3 weeks. So now I must pay to get my own money and wait for almost 3 weeks. What has happened in SA regarding customer care?
This has a ripple effect on all my accounts that need to be paid and FNB is just taking a back step and saying this is not their mistake. For the past 9 years, I have never experienced this problem, why now? All that FNB has to say is because of the public holiday on Mondy.
Surely this cannot be allowed.
