Money Making Scheme - FNB Honouring Fee

I am emailed and called *** a week ago and still have not received a reply. Posting here so that someone can assist me.

I want the bank charges under #item paid no funds 5 items R450 and #item paid no funds 2 items R300 be reversed.

I spoke to an FNB agent last week and he explained that this items were charged for 7 transactions that the bank ‘honoured’. Firstly, these transactions were made when I had money in my account. The funds were taken and reserved for these purchases and were unavailable to me. Secondly, I have a student account and definitely do not have an overdraft agreement with FNB so if I indeed did not have sufficient funds the transaction/s should have been declined and I should have been charged R8.50 (which I still was). Thirdly, I had a debit order go off my account after the 7 transactions which I had insufficient funds to pay and instead of putting through the previous 7 transactions, you decided to honour this debit order and then charge me 7 honouring fee for the previous 7 transactions instead of just 1 honouring fee and on top of that you still reversed the debit order.

Does that make sense? Logically why charge 7 times when the transactions that was charged when there were insufficient funds was only 1. Is this a money making scheme? I am student and really cannot afford these charges. Previously, the debit order order would bounce and I would arrange payment directly to Vodacom and pay your R8.50 charge but this time I need to make arrangements with Vodacom and still pay you R750+R8.50 which ironically is even more than the debit order it self.

Please rectify this ASAP. You have already charged me the R8.50 for insufficient funds for the debit order so please credit by account with R300 and R450.

Thank you so much.

The problem was solved efficiently and quickly. Will change my score. It was a bit of a disappointment that I had to complain publicly for this to be resolved
