Money hungry, unwilling to settle claims

Took out gap cover with FNB, and they are completely and utterly useless - all of my claims are declined and no clear reasons are provided as to why not. My understanding is that a gap cover is supposed to cover the difference between what a medical service provider chargers and the amount the medical scheme settles, BUT NOT FNB GAP COVER, no sir ree!

After submission of a claim, the claim cannot be tracked. The only feedback you receive is:

“We are experiencing high volumes, we apologize for the delay and inconvenience. Please kindly find the attached GAP Cover Claim Outcome Letters. Should you require further information and assistance. Please do not hesitate to contact us. Please contact us on weekdays between 08:00 and 17:00 and Saturdays between 08: 00 and 13:00 for further information. ShareCall number *** Email address ***“

And then … BOOM!: “Your claim has been assessed, and we regret to inform you that the Insurer, FirstRand Short Term Insurance, has rejected your claim.”

To anyone who even thought of considering them for gap cover, do yourself a favour, and look elsewhere.
