Money being withdrawn from account without my permission .
Good Day He who writes this letter is Moiloa Mphahlele, and it is in relation to the happenings of 25 November and consequential events in later days. Rosina Mphahlele Is my mother and she as the Account holder needs be mentioned beforehand. Herewith is a summary thereof: 1. On the 25 Of November at around 10:16AM whilst at a funeral service, Rosina Mphahlele ( my mother) received a notification from her bank( First National Bank), that saying an amount of R500 was reserved for purchase. The reference there being MasterRent. I need to mention that she had her bank card with her and you will understand why in the latter points. 2. She (Rosina Mphahlele) then went to the bank as she wasn’t aware of the transaction and was told by the branch’s representatives, that what needs be done is cancellation of the card and lodging of a dispute in relation to *****. The date of cancellation was 27 November (Monday) 3. On the 01 st December 2017 another notification with the same reference (Master Rent) was received and this time it wasn’t just reserved for purchase but an actual purchase. The amount had increased by R7000 to R7500.I need mention again that my mother didn’t know of the transaction and that it was ***** again. 4. 3 days later, the 04 th December, FNB called saying that the client (Rosina Mphahlele) was aware of the transaction and used as reason, that the client had hired a car from a car rental company therefore the dispute didn’t go through. I need also mention that the events sited by the bank were happenings of the prior year. The bank stated that we need to communicate with the merchant ( Master Rent). We then saw incompetency in the branch and sought to go up to the main branch in Polokwane. 5. On the 15 th December, even after seeking help from the Provincial FNB Branch in Limpopo, we got a notification that the Dispute (again) had been denied siting that we need to communicate with the merchant.
I need to express my disappointment in the bank as in this day and age, no one needs be worried that someone might freely indulge in their finances. I mean each account holder thinks not that the bank would allow any delinquent rob them off their money. Should that happen to anyone, Banks shouldn’t be the first ones to walk on them like they didn’t have a fiduciary duty.
