Misleading Service Fees

I am an existing FNB client for more than 20yrs now residing in the Pinetown area. On a recent visit to one of your branches in PMB about three months ago I was advised by a consultant to get a credit card which I found interesting as I did not have one before.

This credit card never arrived and I received an SMS of a service fee of R308 due by end of October the other day. I visited a branch in New Germany for clarity as to why am I being charged and was shocked to find out that there is a monthly fee of R110 applicable just for "having" this credit card. Furthermore this was a platinum credit card which was way over my earning threshold. Had I known there was a service fee of R110 applicable every month I wouldn't have agreed to take the credit card. The repayment amount used, interest, plus the monthly service fee???

Why must I pay monthly such an amount even if I do not use the credit card? That is ridiculous. I wasn't aware of that. Maybe I could've signed somewhere in fine print on agreeing to the credit card but it wasn't explained to me that such an amount is payable every month just for having the the credit card which still never arrived after 3 months.

Why am I being charged an initiation fee for a card I did not collect/receive? I would like these fees to be reversed and the credit card to be cancelled as I refuse to pay for something I did not receive neither am I prepared to pay a monthly fee of such an amount just to have a credit card. I would've been expecting more from FNB especially being a client for more than 20yrs and never did I experience something like this.

I felt happy with FNB with more than two decades making them my service provider of choice. I do not want to close my account but if I get no joy I feel that it will be the best thing to do as I'm not prepared to run form pillar to post to get this matter corrected as I feel it not fair and reasonable being ********** like this.
