Mislead Yet Again by the Home Loans Division

FNB again not sticking to its motto. My Fiance and I had plan's drawn up to have extensions done on our home and went to see a Home Loan consultant who then advised we would qualify to take a further loan on her bond and the amount we required should not be a problem. We filled in the Required application forms submitted it and now a month later we are told that we do not qualify for the amount we requested yet they can give us a lesser amount. Apparently its based on affordability. Whats simply mind boggling is that She had a credit card and overdraft facility and the amount she was paying towards that 2 accounts also with FNB was +-R 2 500.00 a month. Here is the thing I settled both those accounts for her last month. She got an increase and housing subsidy increase and the amount we inquired for the payment increase on the bond would have been what she was paying for the other 2 accounts mentioned above. Can someone please tell me what the process is for switching our bond to another bank and what the pro's and con's are as its frustrating that one representative of FNB says one thing and someone else says something else. I am also in the process of moving away from FNB as there service levels has dropped immensely. You should try there call center!!!!!! !!!!!

Disappointing is an understatement. We app**** for R 250K to do renovations to extend our property and instead am told based on affordability FNB can only give us R 150k. We then complain and then all of a sudden am approved for R 245k but instead of our current remaining term of 195 months and told it will have to increase again to 240 months. I contacted Nedbank who are prepared to better the entire deal we have with our whole bond. How sad is this as since day one almost 4 years ago when we bought the house FNB declined our initial application and again it was Nedbank who wanted to assist us. So sad that the bank you have been with for so many years do not want to assist you yet they say "How Can We Help You." Perhaps this is a clear sign.
