Media Statements = False Hope

Good day

I contacted FNB regarding a payment holiday and/or debt consolidation. I assumed it would be an easy process as I have never defaulted on a payment and FNB has been all over the news telling consumers how they intend to assist their clients during Covid 19.

I app**** for assistance online. The system kept saying: "Oops, an error occurred, we will contact you shortly." I tried multiple times and received the same message.

A FNB member called me and went through the entire consolidation process with me only to tell me at the end that I no longer qualify because I app**** 7 times yesterday. I explained about the system error. She said there was nothing she could do. I should WAIT 3 MONTHS AND TRY AGAIN THEN!!

A system error is not the clients fault! In this instance the onus is on FNB to fix such errors and do as much as they have said they will in media statements.

After multiple phone calls to different divisions of FNB I am left speechless!! Some employees say they are not aware of payment holidays yet it is all over the news. When I mentioned that, they told me they can only work according to the information supp**** by their supervisors...

What on earth is going on at FNB?? Is it too much to ask that they do what they have said they would? I don't think it is!!

When asking for assistance, FNB wants a letter from your employer to specify how your income will be affected. Many of us did not receive any formal communication from our employers. There just wasn't enough time between the lockdown announcement and the subsequent closure of business.

We also incur additional expenses that is ignored. I am helping our domestic worker and her family of 6 PEOPLE with money, vitamins, cleaning products, hand sanitizer and food. Two people in her family is HIV+. They need vitamins and proper food! The youngest is a boy of 7. He is HIV +.

FNB: I am really disappointed in you. I thought your motto said it all. I realize now that "How can we help you" is not how I was treated...
