Making me feel like a robot
The application process at FNB homeloans is entirely paper-based, manual and outdated, compared, for example to Wesbank vehicle financing, where the entire process is digitized and significantly automated. Not even a PDF-signed document was accepted which meant I had to dust off the old printer/scanner, sign each page manually, scan it back page by page. I ended up using my phone to take photos of the pages but then the consultant wasn't happy that it was not in PDF-format nor in the correct order, so I had to go back to administrative overhead mode and sort the pages and save it as a PDF then send it back again. The interactions from the consultant is somewhat cold and lifeless. I made sure to stay friendly throughout as I understand they deal with difficult customers, but the responses made me feel somewhat robotic. It would be nice to enjoy a more personal feel, even if just a bit friendly, but questions are responded to in as little words as possible, sometimes just one or two words. Such responses makes me not even want to engage, hence I am patiently waiting for the payout despite no attempts made to keep me informed. I will wait for it to be paid in one day, but as I finally told the consultant today..."The silence is deafening." I hope today's request for an update won't backfire on me 😂
