Losing trust in FNB after many years of being a client

I have been with FNB since the age of 12. I am turning 30 this year and to my disappointment FNB just could not help us.

We have been loyal clients of FNB for years now. My husband is a private client and I am a premier client. We bought our first home through FNB and never skipped a payment. We decided to sell our first home and requested a new home loan for our new home. FNB advised that we should move our home and not our loan and we would save money in return.

This is where the disappointment began. We submitted all the requested documents to FNB only to find out that we only qualify for an 80% loan which is less then what we can afford. We then requested that they give us a breakdown of why this is and the only answer they could give us was insufficient affordability.

After a struggle of two weeks, FNB sent the request to the regional sales manager only for us to receive a reply that the affordability is a problem. We then phoned her and she just rep**** saying that we were wasting her time as we already know the answer.

We then approached SA Home loans who gave us a complete breakdown as to why the affordability was a problem. We realised that FNB had two personal loans against our name which no longer existed. This explained why our affordability was so low. SA Home Loans offered us a 90% loan on 25% of our Bruto income which was much more than FNB's 80% calculated on 30% Bruto income.

We find it difficult to understand as to why FNB would NOT help us to get the best loan. We are therefore closing all accounts with FNB and moving our business to another bank. FNB will now lose two cheque accounts, two credit cards, a personal loan, a home loan, an insurance policy and a savings account for my daughter just because they were not keen on helping us by going the extra mile.

We struggle to understand that their slogan reads "How can we help you?" if most of our friends including us have not been helped. It is quite interesting to read all the negativity on FNB's Facebook page which makes one wonder how long it will be until they lose all their valuable clients.

Regards
