Lose an excellent customer for a mere R50-00?!

I advised Kulula.com credt card (powered by FNB Card Division) on 10 March 2017 that I was going to be sailing on a cruise ship for 3 weeks from 18 March 2017 and back in RSA on 09 April 2017. I was given the requisite authorisation and a reference number for using my card while away.

I then paid an ADDITIONAL R14000.00 into my credit card having a CREDIT balance of R24 421.98 from the previous month. I did this in an attempt to be more than fully paid as I was away for March 2017 month end.

I received a curt, almost rude, call on 11 April 2017 from FNB Card Collections stating that I'd missed paying the minimum R50-00 on an outstanding debit balance of R918.62 at 03 April 2017. Bear in mind that I was without internet on the high seas then in airplanes until I returned from the Far East on Sunday 09 April 2017.

I was hugely irritated by the FNB Card Collections attitude, having paid R44 000.00 in Feb/March 2017 and a further R14 000.00 on 14 arch 2017 into my credit card just before my departure from RSA, Thus my previous substantial use of and payments into the credit card seemed completely disregarded. All for a mere R50-00. The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back was that my card was blocked late yesterday afternoon before I could access internet to pay the R50-00!

Note that I paid R2000-00 into the credt card last night before midnight from my SBSA account and will pay the April/May invoice on due date in May 2017. Thus I'm way ahead of any payments now due.

I find the lack of recognition of my excellent account status and past customer record with Kulula.com Card /FNB Card very disturbing and annoying. I have no appetitie to continue being a customer of FNB/Kulula Card.

On two calls from FNB Card Collections today I have stated my views and requested that the call centre agent escalate the call recording to her supervisor and credit manager. I requested that I be contacted by email by the Credit Manager. I also advised FNB Card Collections today on the calls of the additional payment of R2000.00 that I made last night.

I noted with further irritation that R111.00 interest has already been debited to my credit card statement for April/May. However, I shall accept the latter given that I miscalculated my 14 March 2017 payment by R918.00. My mistake!

However, the disregard for my substantial use of and regular full payments to my credit card account ON TIME over many years is inexcusable.
