Loan account not closed off

Hello Peter, I'm writing this post in regards to a personal loan account that wasn't closed.

Between 19 - 21 August 2017, I went to the FNB branch in Rivonia. I wanted to clear both my Revolving Credit Account and my Personal Loan.

Sufficient funds were transfered into both accounts and I asked the consultant to close both of these accounts and remove them from my profile. I was assured this would be done.

A few days later, I returned to the Rivonia FNB branch, enquiring why neither of these accounts had been closed, even though they showed a R0 R0 balance, available and total respectively.

I was told that the Revolving credit plan had 76c owing on it - we laughed and I transfered the 76c.

A week later, I phoned FNB and asked why neither of these accounts had been closed off (now the third time I'm trying to close these accounts off)

Finally, after 2 transfers and being put on the phone with a supervisor, the RCP (Revolving credit) account was removed from my profile.

Again, 19 - 21 August 2017 - I transfered the remaining balances to clear both of these accounts!

It is now October and after many attempts, the Personal Loan account is still on my profile and incurring interest! This means that even though I had paid the amount owing in full, in August, the account WAS NOT properly closed off and now I owe a balance on something that was cleared BACK IN AUGUST!

I've been with FNB for over 20 years and I have never been this dissatisfied with them. Every attempt to contact FNB has resulted in multiple transfers to multiple departments and more of my life than I care to think about wasted on their 'on-hold' music.

FNB has my contact details and I certainly hope they contact me soon! - Gareth Melvin
