I am extremely disappointed with FNB’s handling of PayShap transactions. Today, I made two PayShap payments totaling R5,000, and while the money has left my FNB account, it has not reflected on the recipient’s side. This is unacceptable because PayShap is marketed as an instant payment service. When I called FNB, I spoke to Shiloba Maphophe, who informed me that if a PayShap payment shows a red cross, it means the payment did not go through and I would have to wait 48 hours for the money to reverse back into my account. Eight hours for a failed instant payment is completely unreasonable. The reversal should happen immediately, not after such a long delay. I need that money urgently. FNB needs to improve its processes and communication around PayShap. Customers trust this service for speed and reliability, and delays like this cause frustration and financial inconvenience.
