KYC HOLD

Good day Oh, what a delightful experience I had with FNB! On 15 December 2022, I decided to make a transfer from my Bond account to my cheque account, but alas, the service was not available. Can you believe it? How dare they inconvenience me like this? So, I thought I'd give them a ring, and guess what? They told me there was a KYC hold on my account. How thoughtful of them not to inform me beforehand! Do they not know that there are such things as email, cell phones, sms, WhatsApp, etc? It's not like these technologies are new or anything. But oh well, after a brief discussion with the call centre agent, they told me I was compliant, and the hold was lifted. Hooray!

But wait, there's more! On 24 February 2023, I thought I'd make another transfer from my bond account to my cheque account, but once again, it didn't go through. Can you believe it? It's not like I have better things to do than contact the call centre every two months. So, I gave FNB a ring, and they told me my account has been put on hold again. How delightful! A mere two months later, and I'm suddenly not compliant anymore. What changed, you may ask? Did the call centre agent in December not know how to read the computer screen? Or is FNB's KYC process so broken that you have to wonder if the people who run this department should rather be seconded to run Eskom where only the best rocker scientists go? I'm really struggling to see myself continuing with this bank.
