Dear FNB,

I am a cheque account holder of FNB, I have been charged with absurd bank charges for #ITEM PAID NO FUNDS 1 ITEMS ON ffg dates: R200 02/06/2023; R245 15/05/2023 ; R180 19/05/2023; R200 06/05/2023 ; R45 11/04/2023 ; R45 11/04/2023 ; R225 08/04/2023 ; R135 24/04/2023 ; R125 03/03/2023 ; R90 06/03/2023; R200 04/03/2023. When you enquire with bankers on their app, all they advise is that we need to read fee charges policy! Seriously, do I look stupid? I then perused my bank statements from June 2022 to May 2023 and noticed that only these last 3 months (March to May 2023) that these rudiculous charges have been deducted from my account yet theres always been funds in my account and no unusual payments or debit orders to flag such ridiculous bank charges! I need my money back as I had funds and my account "Cheque" lets me have a debit and balance the amount later. You make us pay for something that you said cheque account is suppose to do??? Why do we have cheque accounts then?????? Lets not talk about unnecessary bank charges on foreign transactions! Please return my money or I will move my account a better bank. A bank that does not take our money for the service already paid for. You have become the worst Bank ever these days! Before we could object to rudiculous bank charges and now we must just accept these charges and move on???... your charges are too much for nothing. Fnb like other institutions in SA are taking advantage of their clients to compensate for losses made during covid19 pandemic! Please wake up! Learn to take care of your customers. I am very dissatisfied with your service of late

Another problem to be noted which hasnt been fixed from what Ive seen from other FNB users/clients. These are foreign transaction fees that come out of nowhere! Please fix this problem and readdress your charges on certain transactions. Once again South Africans are being taken advantage off. This stark difference between the amount FNB seeks to collect and the cost of collection, raises questions about the economic logic of the policy, especially considering South Africa's current economic challenges due to years of mismanagement and *******ion at various state owned entities and the ravages of the government’s lockdown policies during Covid. In times of economic hardship, like a recession or the recovery from a pandemic, it may be necessary to consider measures to ease the burden on south africans,fees and charges, such as extended deadlines, payment plans, or reductions in charges. It's also crucial to ensure that charges are not disproportionately impacting lower-income south africans or creating barriers to compliance.
