Issue of Closing Account

I am disgusted ! Went to close an account I do not use today and was told I owe maintenance fees so I paid it with an instant payment but the money took about half an hour to reflect and the man told me to come back directly to him to continue to process of closing the account. After the amount I was told to pay reflected I went to close the account with him and he told me suddenly I owe more. The bank had managed to charge me again all of a sudden in that half an hour. I refused to pay it and asked him to resolve it and speak to a manager and he spoke to me like I was stupid and wouldn't let me speak to a manager. He told me it could take days to be resolved and I said it was fine but he refused to do anything other than tell me I must pay. I walked out distraught. I am not paying that extra amount !! I was told the amount I owed in order to close the account and I paid that ! The account, that isn't even used, should have been closed!! Disgusted!
