Is my money really safe at FNB

This month while going through my bank statements trying to resolve yet another double debit I came across five companies that are debiting my account without my knowledge. I do not have contracts with this companies nor can I find out any information about them on line. How on earth do these companies have access to my account? Why do I pay so much to bank at FNB when my money is not even safe there? I am so unhappy with the service I am getting at FNB. It seems every week I have to deal with some form of issue.
