International Limits Blocked, Banking Rights Violations, Single Source of Funds

Serious Issues on Humanitarian Grounds -

I'm currently out of the country on a business trip and had my International Limits enabled BEFORE I left. I received SMSs a couple of weeks ago, stating that these have been disabled.

Without any prior information, my Card has been blocked for International Transactions while I'm still overseas.

My FNB account is my single source of funds.

I'm struggling overseas to make basic amends meet, to pay basic human and business needs such as food, accommodation, transport to name a few. I'm sick for the past few days and haven't been able to go to the doctor, because I have a shortage of funds. I had to pay off EMIs with whatever funds I had in local currency and I won't be able to pay the EMIs for July, which is going to affect my credit rating and cheques are going to bounce, causing legal issues in future.

I used Secure Chat and was asked to email/call the Card Limits team, their Manager and my Banker. I sent an email on 9th June 2019, numerous follow-ups and it has been 7 working days so far.

I've also called (while on International Roaming) the phone numbers umpteem times and I have been on hold forever every single time - incurring additional expenses on International Roaming charges.

I am seriously apalled, disappointed and frustrated at the utter and malignant disregard for human rights, professionalism and the thievery that's going on at FNB.

I am preparing an email to the FNB CEO and the Financial Regulator at Reserve Bank and will not them this sham go unnoticed.

Questions -

1. Why am I paying FNB a monthly fees for banking, when you cannot even uphold the basic Customer Relationship and Humane values?

2. What good are MY own funds, if I cannot use them when needed, even after I follow your laborious processes?

3. Every single time I travel, I have to spend time and effort on reaching out 48 hours before and go through the laborious process - what happened to your promise of "Convenient Banking"?

4. I learnt that this is not a once-off case and there are multiple people who are affected and are in the same precarious situation as myself.

5. I've also learnt that my colleagues who are banking with FNB don't have any such International Spend restrictions - is this purely for foreign nationals? On what justifiable regulatory grounds have you implemented this only for foreign nationals? I'm not even from a sanctioned jurisdiction/country.

Team,

Still not resolved, are you just peddling lies to keep customers quiet, while there clearly seems to be a problem with your Technology and Issuer Integration?

I received a call from Mr. Oscar from FNB Private Clients team yesterday and another person today, went through the IVR process to enable International Limits.
The person confirmed today that my Card is enabled for International Transactions, but my transactions are failing again.

I called up your FN Card Limits number and waited for 14 minutes yet again for someone to answer, before dropping off (takes the total to 64 minutes of waiting, on an International Roaming call).

I'm losing patience, time, effort and trust on this.

Regards,
Kasi
